 For this lesson, we learned how to perform the data analysis, and conduct an analysis on either 1 of 2 Case Studies given to us to investigate the significance of factors affecting our end results. 3D Printing

For our 3D Printing Session, our objective was to design an object that could not be made  Subtractively . After some failed brainstorming and searching online, I decided to follow this guide on Youtube, where he makes a cool looking pencil holder. This pencil holder cannot be made subtractively as cutting out the design along the curved surface of the pencil holder. Link to the video can be found here Step 1: From the Top view, sketch a circle with a diameter of 70mm. Step 2: Extrude the circle by 90mm to form a cylinder. Step 3:  Use the shell function to hollow the cylinder while leaving a 4mm gap. Step 4:  Create a Slot sketch and adjust its position where it is going to go on the pencil holder. Step 5:  Use the Emboss tool to emboss the slot design onto the cylinder. Step 6: Use the Circular Pattern Function to repeat the slot design all around the cylinder 10 times. Arduino Programming For Arduino Programming, my class was tasked to accomplish 2 things. Firstly, each of us had to complete an individual competency test, and also write a code that would make the wings of a unicorn flap, and a bonus task of combining the flapping with something else.  To start off, my group used an "Sweep" example code provided by the Arduino Software, then tweaked it a little. We changed the Servo's initial position to from 0 to 10 degrees , changed the sweeping angles to go from 10 to 120 degrees and changed the degree increase rate to steps of 10 degrees . We also changed the delay when rotating anti-clockwise to 25ms, and  15ms when rotating clockwise. At first, we set it to have a slower flapping speed, but it was too slow by our lecturer's standards, so we increased it after. I feel that I can utilize this platform to design and create many interesting results. Laser Cutting

Lesson For Week 2, we were introduced to the Laser Cutter. The laser cutter diagram that was shown in class  used a CO2 tube to produce a laser beam that is hot enough to cut through most materials. Inside the machine, 2 reflective mirrors would reflect the laser beams to a final mirror located in the Carriage. The laser is redirected through the focus lens to material to be cut. The carriage then moves around the material to cut the shapes/patterns that the user wants. Suitable materials for laser cutting would include: Wood of up to 6mm thick Acrylic of up to 5 mm thick Cardboard and Paper Unsuitable materials would be ones that had chlorine or PVC in them. We were also to observe the material closely to see if it was getting cut through. If the material was not getting cut through, we would have to stop the cutting process and check on the focus lens to see if it was dirty.
